Welcome Stage

Welcome Stage showcases performers selected through auditions, offering a remarkable platform not only for young and up-and-coming musicians but also for professional and established artists. Musicians who perform on this stage often benefit from additional concert opportunities, as the festival draws numerous dramaturgs and music journalists.

Slunovrat Festival 2024 will feature 10 artists selected in the auditions! Nine of these performers were handpicked by Milan Tesař, the music editor at Radio Proglas, with one wild card selection made by the head of the Welcome Stage. Additionally, one selected artist will secure a spot on one of the main stages at the 2025 edition of the festival. All participating artists will receive exposure on Radio Proglas and various other media platforms.

Auditions for the Welcome Stage 2024 was held from 15 September to 31 December 2023. Interested artists could apply by completing the APPLICATION FORM and sending it to welcome@festivalslunovrat.cz. The results of the auditions were announced by the end of January 2024. 

WELCOME STAGE 2024 rules

WELCOME STAGE IS ONE OF THE STAGES AT THE SLUNOVRAT FESTIVAL THAT WILL TAKE PLACE ON 20–22 JUNE 2024 IN OPAVA.

  • The festival organiser (hereafter referred to as Organiser) offers musical artists (hereafter referred to as Artist) the opportunity to perform on the Welcome Stage. The number of slots on the Welcome Stage is limited, therefore the Organiser reserves the right to select the performers without regard to the order in which the registration forms have been submitted.
  • Fill in all the sections in the application form; incomplete submissions will not be accepted. Email the form to welcome@festivalslunovrat.cz by 31 December 2023 and use “Welcome Stage” as the subject of the email.
  • The Artist will be informed whether they have been selected to perform on the Welcome Stage by the end of January 2024.
  • The Organiser will provide:
    • A 70-minute time slot (45 minutes for the performance, 25 minutes for instrument setup, sound check, and stage clearance)
    • An elevated stage in sady Svobody, Opava; the stage is located in a free-of-charge zone
    • A 230 V power supply
    • Audio equipment
    • Free entry to the festival
    • Promotion of the Artist on the festival website and social media
    • Promotion of the Artist in Rádio Proglas and other media outlets
    • One of the performers on the Welcome Stage 2024 will be selected to perform on one of the main stages at Slunovrat 2025
  • The Artist agrees to provide a high-quality performance, observe the assigned time slot, and follow the instructions of the Organiser and the stage manager.
  • The Artist agrees that the Organiser can take photographs and record their performance and use the materials to promote the Slunovrat Festival.
  • The Organiser will pay a fixed rate of:
  • 3,000 CZK (this includes travel expenses) to performers from the Czech Republic / 120 € (this includes travel expenses) to performers from other countries.
  • The Organiser will provide refreshments for the Artist.
  • The Organiser does not provide accommodation for the Artist.
