A cultural festival held annually at the end of June in attractive places in the historic centre of Opava
Slunovrat offers a diverse selection of multi-genre music and cultural productions that appeal to a broad audience of music, culture, and gastronomy enthusiasts, including families with children. Our priority is to maintain high-quality standards without imposing any genre or style restrictions. This inclusive approach is also reflected in the non-musical part of the programme, where we create platforms for discussing relevant and inspiring issues.
The festival has a significant social component, with charitable and human rights organizations having the opportunity to showcase their initiatives. The Welcome Stage is an ideal platform for emerging or undiscovered musical talents.
It’s important to note that the entire festival is organized by volunteers.
The music at Slunovrat defies categorization. Our line-up features artists from various genres, including guitar rock, contemporary folk, electronic or world music, both from the Czech Republic and abroad.
Every year, a large number of artists take part in an audition for the opportunity to perform on the Welcome Stage located in the festival’s free zone.
Our non-musical programme is a crucial component of the festival’s line-up. It includes discussions, lectures, literary readings, exhibitions, theatre performances, new circus shows, workshops, and children’s programmes. Festival-goers also have the chance to meet influential figures from the world of culture and science, as well as journalists, artists, writers, actors, and other notable guests from both the Czech Republic and abroad.
We believe that good food and drinks are as important as good music. That’s why we offer a variety of gastronomic stalls featuring renowned regional and world cuisine specialities, as well as simple dishes and vegan delicacies. We also provide good coffee, regional beer, and wine from our household winery Krásná Hora.
